13 Bots/Nam Hippo Pools 20/5/14

Anthony caught a cracker last night

Luis also caught but not quite as big

And let's not forget Johan

All caught quite a few more.
A couple of bush babies came to visit.
Left Samsitu around 7ish Nam time. From Eenhana to Ondangwa is a string of bars and shebeens all with English names. A couple that tickled my fancy: Fanny Resting Bar, My Morning Fire, Holiday Inn, Vinho Tinto Bar. All are little ramshackle places and brightly painted.
Big mission to find meat - stopping at any large looking grocery store but only fish and chicken. Eventually found a beautiful shopping centre in Oshakati which house a P 'n P. Stocked up.
Our longest day journey (700 kms) since the first leg. Dense bush gives way to wide open plains populated with predominantly date palms (and mega livestock). Vast tracts of water soaked fields. A canal running next to the road for miles, part of the Etunda Irrigation Project. 25kms before Ruacana, we're back to bush but scrubby and over grazed.
All of a sudden the entire vista changed.

Hippo pools is charming. R150 per night with use of house bathroom and kitchen. View is magnificent
