Day 13 Okaukuejo (Etosha)

A relatively quiet day, but first, back to last night.  Luis went off to the waterhole.  I decided to stay at camp and try and capture the Honey Badger, assuming he reappeared.  (Besides, it's a long walk and I'm still aching from the other walks) - good as gold, the badger did come back , following roughly the same route.  I chased him around the camp area and managed to get this photo (not the best but it captures the memory):

In the meantime, the rhino were back at the waterhole and Luis was able to view without mishap.
Woke up to the sound of lion roaring this morning.  Lovely sound, cannot get enough of it.  We did not find the "noisemakers" but much further on we found a solitary male lion at a waterhole.  Not a brilliant sighting as he was a reasonable distance away.
A few k down the road from the lion, the thorn thickets have now given way to vast grassy plains teeming with various grazers, there were about 7 jackal.  Caught these two scrapping over poor old Zebra remains.

In the same vicinity there was a hyena wending his way to this waterhole:

The rest of the trip was relatively quiet.  Beautiful panoramic scenery - would love to see this park after some good rains, especially the pans. This morning we saw "real" clouds (not dust clouds) for the first time.

This one is for you, Dad - not the biggest raptor around but certainly one of the prettiest.

Camp wise, this is one of the nicest (they're all good) - it's quieter than the others.  Little Jackal just came right up to Luis' chair - obviously scrounging.  Cannot feed them tho', as tempting as it is, as that will contribute to their demise.
I'll sign off now as we're off to the waterhole (probably another long walk!) after which I intend to take a long, luxuriating shower, conserving water at the same time, of course!
