Day 9 Waterberg Plateau National Park

Really feel as though we're in Namibia now. The "Die Dam" was just an overnight stop and not representative of the bush life we love so much.  This place is awesome.  It's in the lea of a craggy mountain.

Very quiet - the only sounds are bird noises (Last night the scops was serenading us; had a brief sighting of him when he flew into the tree we are parked under - too quick for camera action! Little pearl spotted added to the tranquility and, very occasionally, the spotted eagle owl would join in). Went on our promised walk this morning and, wow, my joints are letting me know that we walked quite a distance (for me, anyway) and all uphill to start with.  We came across a "troop" of these little mongoose (gooses/geese?) but cannot id him.  Any thoughts, anyone?  We think he might be a water mongoose but cannot be sure. (It's officially known, from this day forward, as a "Fluffly Little Black Mongoose! - compliments of my Dad!)

Banded mongoose were walking through the campsite raiding the dustbins! Briefly saw a flock of rosy faced love birds - only had our small camera lens so couldn't get a decent shot but I note that they are quite prevalent throughout Nam so, hopefully, another opportunity will present itself.
Luis spent balance of today tightening nuts and bolts on Brutus.  Quite a few loose wheel nuts!!  Good old Kgalagadi strikes back!
This one is for you, Gail:

With just a couple of km's short of 3 000 on the clock, we head for Etosha (Fort Namatoni) tomorrow.  Hopefully, all hell will break loose. (Game sighting wise!!!)
