Day 3 (30/8)

Whoop Whoop - finally we are re-connected with the world - sorted out the broadband connection problem in Windhoek on 4/9 so lot of catching up to do!
30/8:  A very hot and dry day with the blasted wind still pumping in from the North.  The corrugation on the road to Nossob is the worst we have every experienced anywhere.  Other people that we have spoken to say that they have never known it so bad. Absolutely bone rattling.  Game is scarce - came upon a little pitiful injured jackal - won't dwell on that - too depressing!

Came across a couple, about our age, who broke down in a remote part of Botswana - they camped in the middle of the road for 3 nights before the first vehicle came along.  That vehicle towed them as far as Kgalagadi on the Botswana side where they waited a further day for a vehicle.  This one couldn't tow them but undertook to alert the rangers in Nossob.  The rangers arrived 2 days later and towed them into Nossob (at night!!)  Once in Nossob they have a further 3 day wait for the spare part to arrive from Upington.  Interesting story - bit scary.  Fortunately their provisions lasted.
